NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated on the road Tuesday evening, falling to Hunter College in straight sets.
Final scores for the match were 25-19, 25-13, and 25-22.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 1-3 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 1-2.
Despite the loss, Purchase remained competitive in the first and third sets, staying within striking distance before Hunter capitalized on key points to secure the win.
The Hawks held the advantage with a .267 hitting percentage and 15 service aces, while the Panthers finished with a .119 hitting percentage and three aces.
Individually, Channing Williams (SO/Neptune, NJ) led the way for Purchase with 12 kills and three digs. Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) followed with seven kills, two aces, and a team-high seven digs.
Victor Ruiz (FY/Bronx, NY) dished out 13 assists, while Ayden Mercado (FY/Brooklyn, NY) added eight assists and three digs.
Next on the schedule, the Blue and Orange will return to their home court to face Baruch College on February 4th at 7 p.m.
