PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's volleyball team hosted St. Joseph's University–Long Island in Skyline Conference action on Saturday morning. Despite a strong effort, the Panthers fell in straight sets (25-9, 25-15, 25-15).
With the results, the Blue and Orange are now 2-11 on the season and 0-3 in the conference, while the guests moved to 9-4 and 3-1, respectively.
Sophomore Sadie Weiss (Bronx, NY) led the team with seven kills and two service aces, while Maya Brown (JR/Carteret, NJ) and Marcella Peña (JR/Bronx, NY) chipped in with five and four kills, respectively. Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) guided the offense with 18 assists and a service ace and Darlene Baez (FY/Bronx, NY) had a team high 10 digs.
The Golden Eagles hit .307 as a team, collecting 31 kills and 18 service aces across the three sets compared to the Panthers' 21 kills and four aces.
The Blue and Orange are back on their home court to host Farmingdale State on October 14 for another Skyline matchup. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
