ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was defeated in the final non-conference matchup of the year Wednesday, falling at Bard College, 1-0.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 4-8-2 overall, while the Raptors moved to 8-4-2.
On the night, the Blue and Orange mostly used a squad of young guns, letting the starters rest up before the final Skyline Conference push.
For Purchase, all the players who took the field showed tremendous grit against a good Bard team on its home field.
Outside of one momentary lapse on defense in the 21st minute, the Panthers' backline held firm all game much to the frustration of the hosts.
In goal,
Nicholas Sheridan (FY/Ansonia, CT) was stellar, as he easily set a new career-high for saves with 13.Â
Offensively, Bard paced the action, as it outshot Purchase, 29-3 overall and 14-2 on goal.
While the Blue and Orange didn't leave the field with a win, they did earn respect and something to build on for years to come.
Up next for the squad is a return home to Skyline action, as they host Sarah Lawrence College this weekend for Senior Day.
That contest will begin at noon on October 18th, with the pregame ceremony beginning around 11:30 a.m.
