BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated on the road Thursday night, falling in straight sets to Sarah Lawrence College in Skyline Conference action.
Scores for the contest were 25-9, 25-10, and 25-10.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while the Gryphons improved to 9-9 and 4-1, respectively.
Over the three sets, Purchase finished with 14 kills on -.110 hitting.
Despite the loss, the Blue and Orange showed persistence on defense, collecting 32 digs, led by Maya Brown (JR/Carteret, NJ) and Marcella Pena (JR/New Rochelle, NY) with nine apiece. Brown also recorded five kills on offense, while Sadie Weiss (SO/Bronx, NY) added a team-high six kills.
Setter Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) tallied seven assists, two service aces, and five digs to round out a well-balanced effort.
Up next, the Panthers continue on the road for another Skyline matchup as they travel to the College at Old Westbury on October 21st, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
