PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team put forth a strong effort on the road Saturday afternoon, falling 6-1 to Skyline Conference opponent St. Joseph's University-Long Island. Despite the final score, the Panthers were competitive throughout the match.
With the results, Purchase moved to 6-7 overall and 2-4 in the Skyline, while the hosts improved to 7-2 and 5-2, respectively.
In doubles play, the top pair of Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) and Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) narrowly fell in a 7-6 decision, while Sierra Blanco (SR/New York, NY) and Stella Kahnis battled closely at the No. 3 position before dropping a 7-5 result.
Purchase earned its lone point in singles action, after Bianco secured a straight-sets win at No. 3 (6-2, 7-5).
Elsewhere, Arnaud extended her match to three sets at No. 2 singles, winning the first frame 6-2 before ultimately falling 6-0, 6-1. Both Novalie Nguyen (SR/Macedon, NY) and Sadie Killebrew (JR/Brooklyn, NY) put together strong performances, coming up just short in a pair of 7-5, 7-5 battles.
The Panthers return home on October 19th to close out the regular season and celebrate Senior Day, which was postponed due to rain.
