PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was defeated on the road Wednesday night, falling to St. Joseph's University-Long Island by the score of 2-0.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 5-9-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the Skyline Conference. For the Golden Eagles, they moved to 9-4-1 and 7-2-1, respectively.
In the first half, the guests put two shots on goal but couldn't break through. Until the dying seconds of the frame, it appeared neither side would score until a goal from St. Joseph's with two seconds left gave them the lead and the momentum.
Over the final 45 minutes, Purchase produced just one more shot, which was off target, while the hosts sealed the victory with a second goal in the 78th minute.
Overall, the Golden Eagles outpaced the Panthers, 24-4 on overall shots and 11-2 on goal.
