PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated at home Saturday afternoon, falling to the University of Mount Saint Vincent in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-13.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the Dolphins, they jumped to 7-9 and 1-1, respectively.
On the court, the hosts enjoyed a quick start leading 3-1 initially, before the guests responded with five straight points. From there, the Blue and Orange battled back to an 8-8 tie score, only to see the Dolphins explode with another long run.
That was the theme of the afternoon, as UMSV enjoyed at least a five-point or more run in all three sets in the win.
Overall, the Panthers finished with 22 kills on .040 hitting, while the visitors surpassed those totals with 35 and .293, respectively.
Individually,
Sadie Weiss (SO/Bronx, NY) and
Marcella Pena (JR/Bronx, NY) each finished with six kills in the effort.
Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) chipped in 14 assists, while
Maya Brown (JR/Carteret, NJ) totaled a game-high 12 digs.
Up next for the Panthers is more Skyline action, as the squad travels to Maritime College on October 9th 7 p.m.
