PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team returned to the courts Tuesday afternoon to shut out Western Connecticut State University, 7-0.
With the results, the Panthers improved to 6-4 overall while the Wolves dropped to 3-8.
The Blue and Orange controlled play from start to finish, sweeping doubles and taking every singles match in straight sets.
Top duo Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) and Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) set the tone with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Katelin Smith (JR/Slate Hill, NY) and Novalie Nguyen (SR/Macedon, NY) cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
In singles, Perlmutter stayed unbeaten at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph, followed by Sierra Blanco (SR/New York, NY), who posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2. Arnaud, Smith, and Nguyen all earned decisive victories at positions 3 through 5, while the team picked up the final point by default.
Up next, the Purchase heads to Baruch College on October 9th.
