PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team secured a start to finish win Tuesday night, besting York College in a non-conference matchup, 74-61.
With the win, the Panthers are now 2-4 overall, while the Cardinals dropped to 0-4.Â
The hosts led the entire way on the night, as they cruised with relative ease to the pre-holiday win.
In the first half, the Blue and Orange led by as many as 22 points, before settling for a 45-27 halftime advantage.
Following the break, Purchase extended the margin to its biggest of the game, 51-27, before they began to coast.
As a result, the visitors trimmed the margin to just 12 points, but never threatened in the end.
Overall, the Panthers shot the ball well, finishing at 41.0 percent compared to 30.9 for York.Â
Individually,
Desmond Ward (SR/Queens, NY) enjoyed another huge game for Purchase, as he finished with game-high totals in points (20), rebounds (16) and blocks (3).
Chris Hunter (SR/Charlotte, NC) added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists, while
Antuan Darden (JR/Binghamton, NY) chipped in 10 points.Â
Up next for the squad is a week off, before it returns to action on the road at Salve Regina University on December 2nd at 7 p.m.
