PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated at home Monday night, falling to Manhattanville University in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-9, 25-20 and 25-8.Â
With the result, the Panthers moved to 3-17 overall and 1-9 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, they jumped to 16-7 and 10-0, respectively.
While the guests dominated in the first and third frames, the middle set saw tight action between the two squads.
The Blue and Orange initially trailed in the stanza, before rallying from a 15-6 hole to get within just one point, 20-19.
But in the end, Manhattanville regained control and eked out the win.
Overall, the Panthers recorded 15 kills on negative hitting, while the guests collected 31 kills on .228 hitting.
Individually,
Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) finished with team-high totals in points (7.0), kills (5) and assists (6).
Marcella Pena (JR/Bronx, NY) chipped in 10 digs in the effort.
Up next for the squad is the season finale, as it hosts the United States Merchant Marine Academy on November 5th at 7 p.m.
