Panthers Earn Tri-Match Sweep

JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team cruised to a pair of wins Saturday afternoon, besting York College and Bryn Athyn College in straight sets.

With the wins, Purchase moved to 5-4 overall.

Game One: Purchase 3, York 0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-16)

The opening contest was a dominating performance for the Blue and Orange, as they finished with 42 kills on .405 hitting.

Individually, Tyler Ryan (JR/Port Reading, NJ) recorded a game-high 16 points (13 kills, an ace and two solo blocks), while Channing Williams (SO/Neptune, NJ) added 12 kills in the victory.

Game Two: Purchase, 3, Bryn Athyn 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-15)

The second game saw the Panthers' dominance continue, as they enjoyed an even more convincing win.

As a squad, Purchase finished with 40 kills on .413 hitting with just nine errors.

Much like the first match, the Blue and Orange used runs early and often to create separation between them and the Lions of Bryn Athyn.

Individually, Ryan paced the Panthers for the second-straight match, as he again totaled 13 kills.

Williams led the squad in points with 14 (10 kills, three aces, two block assists), while Hector Ruiz (FY/Bronx, NY) collected eight kills and five digs.

Up next for the squad is a return home, as it hosts John Jay College on February 18th at 7 p.m.
