PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team rolled to an easy win Wednesday night, breezing past the United States Merchant Marine Academy by the score of 90-59.
With the Skyline Conference win, the Panthers moved to 10-10 overall and 6-5 in the league. For the Mariners, they dropped to 7-13 and 3-8, respectively.
Outside of the first 1:16 of the game, the Blue and Orange led the rest of the way.
In the first half, they extended their lead to 20 points by halftime, 42-22.
Over the course of the rest of the game, the led grew to as many as 36, before the Panthers eventually settled for a 31-point win.
The offense was clicking all night for the hosts, as they converted on 48.5% of their shots, 39% on 3-pointers and 88.9% of free throws.
They also turned the ball over just eight times and won the rebounding battle to secure the dominant victory.
Individually,
Tyler Bond (JR/Jamaica, NY) finished with a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists to led Purchase.
Rashid Nikiema (JR/Winooski, VT) added 15 points, six rebounds and two blocks, while
Sean Holzman (SO/Putnam Valley, NY) collected 14 points on four 3-pointers.
