EAST BOSTON, Mass. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team began the 2025 season Saturday afternoon, falling at Suffolk University by the score of 19-1.

With the result, the Panthers start the year 0-1, while the Rams jumped to 2-0.

In the first quarter, the hosts scored the first seven goals to race ahead, before adding an eighth goal to start the second quarter.

At that point, the Blue and Orange scored their only strike of the afternoon off a free-position chance from Catie Chios (SO/Westbury, NY).

From there, the Rams added one more goal to lead 9-1 at halftime. Following the break, they outscored the guests, 10-0, to secure the victory.

Overall, Purchase totaled six ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls in the effort.

Individually, Chios produced both of the Panthers' shots, as she also collected a ground ball and caused turnover.

In goal, Amani Jamal (SR/Hopewell Junction, NY) finished with 26 saves and two ground balls. 

Up next for the squad is more non-conference road action, as they travel south to take on Centenary University on March 6th at 3 p.m.
