HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated at Centenary University Thursday afternoon, falling in the non-conference matchup by the score fo 14-1.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 0-2. For the Cyclones, they improved to 2-0.
Over the first three quarters, the hosts outscored the Blue and Orange 11-0, before Purchase opened the fourth quarter with their lone strike of the day.
Catie Chios (SO/Westbury, NY) provided the tally, as she found the back of the net on a free-position attempt with 13:50 remaining.
From there, the hosts added three more to seal the convincing win.
Overall, the Panthers produced four shots, 10 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls in the effort.
Chios led the way with two shots, four ground balls and a caused turnover.
Autumn Gandolfo (FY/Floirda, NY) added three ground balls and caused turnover, while
Delece Kerr (SR/Jamaica, NY) collected two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
In goal,
Amani Jamal (SR/Hopewell Junction, NY) finished with 18 saves, a ground ball and a caused turnover.
Up next for Purchase is two weeks of rest before the team's home opener against Cedar Crest College on March 20th at 6 p.m.
