PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated in its home opener Thursday evening, falling to Cedar Crest College by the score fo 23-1.
With the result, the Panthers moved to 0-3, while the Falcons now sit at 2-2 overall.
The guests raced out to a big margin and never looked back, scoring the first nine goals of the night.
For the Blue and Orange, their lone strike came with six minutes remaining in the first period, as
Catie Chios (SO/Westbury, NY) found the back of the net off a free-position shot.
From there, the guests scored six more before halftime to lead 15-1 at the break.Â
Overall, Purchase finished with five shots, six draw controls and 16 ground balls in the effort.
Individually, Chios collected three draw controls, three ground balls and caused a turnover, while
Jessica McHugh (SO/Ellenville, NY) totaled a team-high four ground balls and a caused turnover.
In goal,
Amani Jamal (SR/Hopewell Juction, NY) recorded 11 saves, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Up next for the Panthers is the Skyline Conference opener, as the squad travels to SUNY Old Westbury on March 28th at 3:30 p.m.
