PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's lacrosse team were overwhelmed by Rosemont College, 20-5, on Wednesday night.
With the results, the Blue and Orange dropped to 1-3 on the season, while the Ravens notched their first win, improving to 1-5.
After the faceoff, Purchase struck first midway through the opening quarter with an unassisted goal from Zach Collins (SR/Victor, NY). Rosemont quickly answered, tying the game at 1-1 as the teams headed into the second quarter. The Ravens then surged ahead, outscoring the Panthers 6-3 in the period to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.
Following the break, Rosemont dominated the third quarter, netting nine goals while keeping Purchase off the scoreboard. The Ravens added four more goals in the final frame, while Collins tallied the Panthers' last goal at 14:56, assisted by Soleil Gaines (JR/Garrison, NY), bringing the final score to 20-5.
Individually, Collins led the Panthers' offense, scoring all five of the team's goals, while Gaines contributed three assists and grabbed six ground balls.
In goal, Sam Erlich (SO/Plainview, NY) faced 39 shots, making 10 saves across nearly 40 minutes of action before first-year goalie TJ Pasqualini (West Harrison, NY) entered in relief.
Next on the schedule, the team heads to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on March 15th for a noon faceoff.
