PURCHASE, N.Y. – Purchase College men's lacrosse battled Bryn Athyn College to a 6-5 loss in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night.
With the results, the Blue and Orange dropped to 2-4, while the visitors improved to 1-3.
The Panthers struck first 10 minutes into the game and held strong for the rest of the opening period. Purchase maintained a 3-2 lead late in the third quarter before the Lions rattled off four unanswered goals to take control.
Kevon Joseph (JR/Brooklyn, NY) and
Zach Collins (SR/Victor, NY) each scored in the final 1:12, but the comeback fell just short.
Individually, Collins led the Panthers' offense with a hat trick, an assist and five ground balls, while Joseph added two goals and three ground balls.
Jack Saueracker (SR/Old Bethpage, NY) registered an assist and three ground balls and
Cameron Savoca (SO/Nesconset, NY) anchored the defense with eight faceoff wins, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
In goal,
Sam Erlich (SO/Plainview, NY) took the loss after facing 35 shots, making eight saves and collecting five ground balls.
Purchase held the edge in faceoffs (9-5), collected 30 ground balls and went 23-for-28 on clears.
The Blue and Orange are on the road March 21st to take on Centenary University at 4 p.m.
