DAVENPORT, Fla. - The Purchase College baseball team lost a pair of games Sunday afternoon, falling to Williams College in a non-conference doubleheader on day two of the Spring Break Florida trip.
Game One: Williams 6, Purchase 3 (7 inn.)
The opening game saw the Ephs race out to a 6-0 lead over the first five innings, before the Panthers rallied late.
Liam Daly (JR/Babylon, NY) provided the spark with a solo homer in the sixth and a two-run double in the seventh, but the run ultimately fell short.
Overall, the squad finished with six hits in the effort, with Daly and
Evan Biener (FY/Hillsdale, NJ) each collecting two hits apiece.Â
On the mound,
Kyan Zamaniyan (SO/Smithtown, NY) drew his first start in a year since suffering an injury. He went two innings, and allowed two runs on two hits.
Isaiah Rubin-Patel (SO/Brooklyn, NY) pitched the rest of the way, tossing four innings with four runs on seven hits.
Game Two: Williams 12, Purchase 6 (7 inn.)
The second game of the day didn't see the Blue and Orange rebound, as they fell behind early once again.
This time around, they trailed 12-0 after the top of the sixth, before responding with six runs in the frame to make it a contest.
At the plate, the squad finished with five hits overall, as
Robert Nunez (FY/Franklin Square, NY) led the way with a double, two RBIs, a run and a walk.
Sam Saltzman (SR/Old Bethpage, NY) recorded an RBI-triple and a run, while starting pitcherÂ
Anthony Ciccone (SO/South Salem, NY) was tagged with the loss after going four innings.
He finished with nine runs allowed (seven earned) on seven hits with five walks.
With the losses, Purchase dropped to 4-10 on the year. For the Ephs, they moved to 4-3.
Up next for the squad is day three of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, as the Panthers play a single game tomorrow (3/24) against NYU at 4 p.m.
