Panthers Bested by NYU at Yankees' Facility

TAMPA, Fla. - The Purchase College baseball team was defeated in a non-conference matchup Monday afternoon, falling to New York University on the grounds of the George M. Steinbrener Field down in Tampa, Florida.

The facility is the host site of New York Yankees' spring training each year, as well as the Tampa Bay Rays' temporary home stadium for the 2025 season.

As for the contest, the final score went in favor of NYU, 20-3. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 4-11 overall, while the Violets moved to 12-5.

On the day, NYU scored in six of eight innings, including six runs in the third, four in the fourth and five in the sixth.

For the Blue and Orange, they compiled three runs on seven hits in the effort.

They first crossed the plate in the fourth frame, thanks to an RBI-double from Evan Biener (FY/Hillsdale, NJ).

One inning later, Mason Compton (SR/Carmel, NY) knocked in a run via a sacrifice fly, before Liam Daly (JR/Babylon, NY) did the same thing in the sixth inning.

Biener and Myles Scarry (5th/Levittown, NY) each tallied two hits apiece.

On the mound, Brandon Reybok (JR/Lindenhurst, NY) was tagged with the loss after going three innings. He allowed seven runs (six earned) on five hits with two strikeouts.

Up next for the squad is a day of rest before the final contest of their Florida spring break trip, as they take on Colby College on March 26th at 9 a.m.
