PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's lacrosse team honored its seniors Tuesday night but couldn't hold off the University of Mount Saint Vincent, falling 16–6.
With the results, the Blue and Orange dropped to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the Skyline Conference, while and the guests moved to 5-7 and 2-2, respectively.
Before the game, head coach
Jake Fitzgerald and the team celebrated its four graduating seniors,
Brendon Truex (Middletown, NY),
Jack Saueracker (Old Bethpage, NY), Dan Knipscher (Vestal, NY) and
Zach Collins (Victor, NY), for their leadership, dedication, and impact on the program. Each was honored on the field with family and friends as part of the Panthers' Senior Night ceremony.
Fueled by the pregame celebration, Purchase kept pace early, trailing by just one after the first quarter. However, Mount Saint Vincent surged ahead with five unanswered goals in the second, taking an 8–2 lead into halftime.
The Panthers rallied in the third to cut the deficit to 9–5, but the Dolphins responded with another offensive burst, scoring five more in the final frame to seal the win.
Individually,
Zach Scott (FY/West Babylon, NY) and Collins each scored twice, while
Kevon Joseph (JR/Brooklyn, NY) and
Soleil Gaines (SO/Brooklyn, NY) added a goal apiece. Gaines also notched an assist.
TJ Pasqualini (FY/West Harrison, NY) made 21 saves on 62 shots in goal.
Purchase returns to action on April 19, traveling to Maritime College for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
