ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's tennis team improved to 5-2 on the season with a dominant 7-0 victory over Bard College on Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Suleyman Eminov (SR/Mary, Turkmenistan) and Isaac Spottek (FY/Conklin, NY) teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 1, while Dexter Pretnar (SO/Mohegan Lake, NY) and Oliver Culliton (SR/Boston, MA) held on for a 7-5 decision at No. 2.
In singles, Purchase swept all six matches. Eminov cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Spottek rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory at No. 2.
Pretnar, Culliton, and Andrew Agosto (SR/Poughkeepsie, NY) all won in straight sets.
First-year Ryan Hobson (FY/Baldwin, NY) made his collegiate debut at No. 6 singles, earning a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6 (7), 10-4 win to close out the sweep.
Up next, the Blue and Orange return home to host Farmingdale State College on April 18 at 4 p.m.
