FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's lacrosse team was defeated on the road Friday afternoon, falling at Farmingdale State College by the score of 20-1.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 0-11 overall and 0-7 in the Skyline Conference. For the Rams, they moved to 7-7 and 6-0, respectively.
The hosts opened the contest with eight straight goals over the first quarter, and nine overall, beforeÂ
Catie Chios (SO/Westbury, NY) provided the lone strike for the Blue and Orange.
Her moment of brilliance came with just under 12 minutes to go in the second quarter, as she found the back of the net off a solo effort.
Outside of that, the Rams dominated as they scored five more goals to lead at halftime, 14-1.
Overall, Purchase finished with five shots, four draw controls and 12 ground balls in the effort.
Leading the way was Chios, as she recorded all five shots, three ground balls, one draw control and one caused turnover.
Azli Gumusgoz (JR/Manchester, UK) totaled two caused turnovers, while
Bernie Seweryn (FR/Brooklyn, NY) compiled a ground ball, caused turnover and a draw control.
In goal,
Amani Jamal (SR/Hopewell Junction, NY) compiled 13 saves, six ground balls and one caused turnover.
Up next for the Panthers is the season finale, as they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on April 23rd at 7 p.m.
