BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Purchase College men's tennis returned to the win column in commanding fashion Saturday afternoon, blanking Sarah Lawrence College 7–0 in a Skyline Conference showdown.
With the results, the Blue and Orange improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the hosts moved to 4-5 and 1-4, respectively.
The Panthers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches.
Suleyman Eminov (SR/Mary, Turkmenistan) and
Isaac Spottek (FY/Conklin, NY) made quick work on court one, 6–2, while
Eli Palagatshev (JR/Yonkers, NY) and
Steve Mains (SR/Mount Kisco, NY) secured a 6–4 win at second doubles. At third,
Oliver Culliton (SR/Boston, MA) and
Andrew Agosto (SR/Poughkeepsie, NY) also finished strong with a 6–4 decision.
Purchase kept the momentum rolling in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Palagatshev was dominant at the top spot, surrendering just one game in a 6–0, 6–1 win. Eminov followed with a 6–2, 6–0 victory at No. 2, while Spottek posted a 6–0, 6–0 win at No. 3.
Mains, Culliton, and Agosto rounded out the clean sweep, each collecting decisive two-set wins to seal the 7–0 shutout.
Up next, the Blue and Orange are back on the road, this time to Mount Saint Mary College for a 5 p.m. match on April 23rd.
