PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College men's tennis team posted a shutout 6-0 win over York College on Thursday afternoon.
With the results, the Blue and Orange improved to 8-3 on the season, while the Cardinals dropped to 0-10.
The Panthers were in control from the first serve, sweeping both completed doubles matches. At No. 1 Isaac Spottek (FY/Conklin, NY) and Dexter Pretnar (SO/Mohegan Lake, NY) rolled to a 6-0 win, while No. 2 Steve Mains (SR/Mount Kisco, NY) and Andrew Agosto (SR/Poughkeepsie, NY) took care of business with a 6-2 decision. The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished due to York being short on players.
In singles, Purchase continued their commanding play. Spottek opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1, and Ryan Hobson (FY/Baldwin, NY) followed with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5. Pretnar won 6-1, 6-1, Mains earned a 6-0, 6-1 decision, and Agosto closed it out with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The Blue and Orange will close out their regular season on April 25 when they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
