PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College baseball team secured two more wins Sunday afternoon, extending the current streak to five in a row after besting Manhattanville University in a doubleheader.
Game One: Purchase 10, Manhattanville 5 (7 inn.)
The opening game saw the guests race out to a big lead and never look back as they plated five runs over the first two innings.
While the Valiants did trim the lead down to just a single run midway through, the Panthers held the lead throughout to earn the victory.
Overall, the Blue and Orange finished with 10 runs on 14 hits, as
Liam Daly (JR/Babylon, NY) led the way with an incredible four hits (two doubles) and seven RBIs.
On the mound,
Brandon Reybok (JR/Lindenhurst, NY) earned the start and win, as he went 3.1 innings and allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits.
Game Two: Purchase 18, Manhattanville 4 (7 inn.)
While the hosts initially grabbed the lead in this game, 3-1, a 12-run third inning lifted Purchase to an impressive win in the end.Â
Overall, the Panthers scored 18 runs on 19 hits, as
Panos Sinis (JR/Pound Ridge, NY) powered the effort with five hits and four runs.Â
On the hill, starter
Kyan Zamaniyan (SO/Smithtown, NY) earned the W after going five innings. He allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits, while striking out three.Â
With the results, Purchase moved to 13-22 on the year and 9-9 in the Skyline Conference.
The Panthers will now enter next weekend in playoff contention, as they take on St. Joseph's University-Long Island at home on May 3rd. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 11 a.m.
