Softball Celebrates Senior Day in Season Finale

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign on Friday with a Senior Day doubleheader against St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn.

The Panthers dropped both contests, finishing the season 11-17 overall  and 5-13 in the Skyline Conference, while the visitors improved to 20-13 and 9-8, respectively.

Game One: SJBK 13, Purchase 4 (5 inn.)

Senior Becca Bronzi (Lagrangeville, NY) went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a clutch two-run single in the second that tied the game at 2–2. First-year Sariah Sanchez (Eastvale, CA) added an RBI single to cap the three-run inning. Purchase tied it again in the fourth on Bronzi's third hit of the day, but a nine-run fifth inning by the Bears forced the early run rule.

Sam Christopher (North Babylon, NY) pitched 4.1 innings and also went 2-for-3 at the plate. She finished her sophomore season with a 5–8 record. Ava Knox (FY/Mahopac, NY) entered in relief during the fifth.

Senior Day Ceremony

Between games, seniors #24 Kat Combe, #18 Kelly Jennings and #8 Becca Bronzi were honored on the field, joined by family, friends and teammates. Each received gifts and warm words of appreciation from the coaching staff.

Current Panthers and a former coach shared stories of admiration and appreciation, drawing a few tears from the crowd. Special guest President Milly Peña praised the trio for their leadership and dedication to the program, offering words of encouragement as they begin their next chapters.

Game Two: SJBK 11, Purchase 3 (5 inn.)

With the festivities concluded, game two got underway—and St. Joseph's picked up where they left off. A four-run first inning gave them early control. Purchase fought back with runs in the first and second—highlighted by RBI hits from Halle Greaige (SO/Rye Brook, NY) and Combe—but couldn't keep pace as the Bears added two in the fourth and five more in the fifth to end the game in five innings.

Purchase totaled 10 hits in the game, including doubles by Christopher, Greaige, Combe, and Sanchez. Greaige and Combe each drove in a run, while Mel Harper (SO/East Patchogue, NY) reached base twice and scored.

From the circle, Liv Goff (Syracuse, NY) started and allowed nine runs over four innings, closing her sophomore season at 4–8. Knox pitched the fifth, surrendering two runs on two hits and three walks.

The Panthers will return for the 2026 season!
