PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team opened Skyline Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-2 to Yeshiva University.

With the results the Blue and Orange drop to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference, while the visitors improved to 3-1 and 2-1, respectively.

The Maccabees swept all three doubles flights to take an early lead before the hosts fought back in singles.

Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) secured a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-4), while Katelin Smith (JR/Slate Hill, NY) battled through a three-set match to earn Purchase's second point at No. 4 singles (4-6, 7-5, 6-3).

Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) then battled her way to a deciding set at No. 2 but ultimately fell short.
