PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's soccer team made its 2025 home debut Thursday night, battling throughout but ultimately falling 4-0 to Pratt Institute.
With the results the Blue and Orange are now 0-2 on the season while the Cannoneers improved to 1-1.
The Panthers kept the game close early on, with goalkeeper Carolyn Hough (SR/Massapequa, NY) anchoring the defense. Hough turned aside six first-half shots and finished with seven saves on the night.
Purchase's best scoring chance came in the 15th minute when Bailey Carlon (SR/Gilbert, AZ) fired a shot that rattled off the crossbar, nearly putting the Panthers on the board. Senior Julieth Velasquez (White Plains, NY) later added two second-half attempts.
On the back line, the Panthers' defense led by Maggie Obman (JR/Scotia, NY) and Angela Holness (JR/Newburgh, NY) worked tirelessly to contain a steady Pratt attack, holding firm through long stretches and showing improved shape as the match wore on.
The Blue and Orange return to action on September 14th as they travel to face Yeshiva University for their first Skyline Conference match up of the season. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
