BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's soccer team was thwarted on the road Tuesday night, falling at Brooklyn College by the score of 2-1.
With the non-conference result, the Panthers dropped to 3-4 overall. For the Bulldogs, they now sit at 3-3.
The Blue and Orange struck first in the contest, converting in the 30th minute off a corner kick.
The chance was taken by
Felix Robinson (SO/Bronx, NY), who he sent the kick in and found the head of a Brooklyn defender. As the Bulldog tried to clear it away, he mistimed it and the ball went sailing the other direction past the keeper.
Following the blunder, the hosts remained in the fight and were rewarded a short time later with a goal of their own in the 38th minute.
The score remained 1-1 into halftime, before Brooklyn doubled its margin in the 65th minute to propel them to the eventual win.
For the Panthers, they pushed hard for an equalizer, producing five shots over the final 25 minutes. However, none found the mark as they fell in the end.
Overall, Purchase finished with 12 shots (four on goal). In goal,
Nicholas Sheridan (FY/Ansonia, CT) collected one save in the effort.
Up next for the squad is a return to Skyline Conference action, as they travel to the United States Merchant Marine Academy on September 20th. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
