PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over John Jay College on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue and Orange improved to 2-2 on the season, while John Jay dropped to 1-2.
The Panthers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles courts. Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) and Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) won 6-0 at No. 1, while Katelin Smith (JR/Slate Hill, NY) and Novalie Nguyen (SR/Macedon, NY) matched the score at No. 2. Sierra Blanco (SR/New York, NY) and Sadie Killebrew (JR/Brooklyn, NY) closed doubles play with a 6-0 win at No. 3.
Purchase carried the momentum into singles, winning every match in straight sets. Perlmutter earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, followed by Arnaud's 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Smith, Blanco, Nguyen, and Killebrew all recorded dominant shutouts at their respective courts, sealing the sweep.
