PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's volleyball team was defeated at home Thursday night, falling to The City College of New York in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19. With the result, both teams now sit at 1-6 on the year.
All three frames saw the guests jump out to big leads early, only for the Panthers to respond late to get back into the contest.
The best highlight of that came in the middle set, when the Blue and Orange turned a 22-9 deficit into a 24-20 margin, before ultimately succumbing.
Overall, Purchase finished with 24 kills on .079 hitting, while the Beavers totaled 33 kills and a hitting percentage of .177.
Individually,
Sadie Weiss (SO/Bronx, NY) led the way with nine kills and 12 digs, both of which were team-high marks.
Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) added six kills, 10 assists and four digs, while
Isabella Colon (FY/Remsen, NY) collected a career and team-high 11 assists in the effort.
Up next for the squad is a non-conference road matchup against Baruch College. That game is scheduled for September 20th at noon.
