NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Purchase College women's volleyball team fell in straight sets on the road Wednesday night, dropping a 25-14, 25-17, 25-18 decision to Mitchell College.
With the results, the Panthers moved to 1-8 on the season, while the Mariners improved to 6-5.
Mitchell used strong runs in all three frames to build early leads and maintain control, forcing the Blue and Orange to play catch up throughout the match.
Purchase totaled 15 kills on a .029 hitting percentage, while Mitchell posted 34 kills on .232 hitting.
Individually, Marcella Pena (JR/Bronx, NY) and Sadie Weiss (SO/Bronx, NY) led the Panthers with five kills each. Weiss also contributed nine points in attack, while Pena added seven. Natalia Leite (JR/Thornwood, NY) recorded 10 assists and Claudia Moses (SO/Stamford, CT) had the only two blocks of the game.
Up next, the Blue and Orange travel to York College on September 30th for a 6 p.m. contest.
