PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team earned a decisive 7-0 sweep over Mount Saint Mary College at home on Saturday morning.
With the results, the Panthers improved to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in the Conference, while the Knights dropped to 2-4 and 0-2, respectively.
The Blue and Orange opened the match strong taking two out of the three doubles matches to earn the point. Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) and Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while the duo of Sadie Killebrew (JR/Brooklyn, NY) and Sierra Blanco (SR/New York, NY) blanked their opponents 6-0 at No. 3.
Carrying that momentum into singles, Perlmutter battled through a third-set super tiebreaker to secure a 6-0, 2-6, 10-6 win at the top flight. Arnaud followed with a clean 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2, while Blanco, Katelin Smith (JR/Slate Hill, NY), and Novalie Nguyen (SR/Macedon, NY) each cruised in straight sets. Sophomore Lilia Qi (Buffalo, NY) capped off the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles, earning her first collegiate singles win.
