PURCHASE, N.Y. - For the first time since the 2023 season finale, the Purchase College men's soccer team earned a draw, as it played Maritime College to a 0-0 final score Tuesday night.
With the result, the Panthers are now 4-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the Privateers, they moved to 5-2-2 and 1-2-2, respectively.
Throughout the contest, the two sides were evenly matched as total shots, shots on goal and fouls were nearly identical at the final whistle.
Still, both sides pushed ahead looking for a game-winning chance.
That moment nearly came in the 75th minute, when the Blue and Orange finally buried a point-blank goal, only for it to be taken away due to an offsides call.
In the end, the hosts finished with 21 shots, including four on goal with four corner kicks.
Oliver Broun (JR/Athens, GA) and
Yahir Tafoya (SO/Mount Vernon, NY) combined for nine shots to lead the offense.
In goal,
Luca Valeriano (FY/Bronx, NY) totaled six saves in the clean-sheet effort.Â
Up next for Purchase is some road Skyline action, as the squad travels to Mount Saint Mary College on October 4th at 1 p.m.
