THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's soccer team was defeated on the road Tuesday night, falling to Maritime College in a Skyline Conference matchup, 3-0.
With the result, the Panthers are now 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the league. For the Privateers, they moved to 3-4 and 2-3, respectively.
In the opening half, the Blue and Orange attacked early and often to the tune of 10 shots over the 45-minute period. However, they could not find their mark as the game cruised into halftime scoreless.
Following the break, the scoring drought was broken early on as the hosts scored on a penalty in the 48th minute.
Not long afterwords, Maritime doubled the margin to all but seal the victory as they now led, 2-0.
In the end, Purchase totaled 23 shots, including 10 on goal. Individually,
Julieth Velasquez (SR/White Plains, NY) finished with six shots (three on goal).
In goal,
Jill Creegan (SO/High Falls, NY) recorded four saves and the loss, while
Carolyn Hough (SR/Massapequa, NY) tallied three saves.Â
