PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Purchase College women's tennis team started its 2025 season strong with a 5-2 victory over Brooklyn College on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Blue and Orange moved to 1-0 on the season, while Brooklyn dropped to 1-1.
The Panthers took control early by sweeping the two completed doubles matches. At No. 1, Emma Arnaud (SR/Farmington, NY) and Amelia Perlmutter (JR/Rutherford, NJ) secured a 6-2 win, while Sierra Blanco (SR/New York, NY) and Katelin Smith (JR/Slate Hill, NY) dominated No. 2 doubles with a 6-0 decision.
In singles play, Purchase sealed the match with victories in four of the six flights. Perlmutter opened her junior season with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Blanco followed at No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-2 win, while Novalie Nguyen (SR/Macedon, NY) rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Smith added another point for the Panthers with a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5 singles.
The Blue and Orange continue their home campaign hosting their first Skyline Conference foe of the season, Yeshiva University, on September 4 at 3 p.m.
