NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team was defeated on the road Wednesday evening, falling to Yeshiva University by the score of 79-72.
With the result, the Panthers are now 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the Skyline Conference. For they Macs, they moved to 7-8 and 6-0, respectively.
Throughout the night, the contest remained close from the opening tip until the final buzzer. In total, the two sides traded the lead 11 times, while also being tied up on nine occasions.
At halftime, the hosts lead by two points, 38-36, before the Blue and Orange erupted to grab the lead in the second period.
In fact, the Panthers'Â biggest lead of the game came with 12:37 remaining in the contest as they held control, 55-46.
But Yeshiva is a dominating force in the Skyline for a reason, and they soon began to rally back.
While the matchup remained neck and neck, a dagger 3-pointer with under a minute to go sealed the victory and gave the Macs the lead for good.
Overall, Purchase shot 41.9 percent from the field, while the hosts finished at 51.9 percent.
Individually,
Ricky Rollins (JR/Schenectady, NY) continued to pace the squad in 2026, as he added another 23 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Desmond Ward (SR/Queens, NY) recorded 18 points and four rebounds, while
Maurice Western (FY/Bronx, NY) chipped in 10 points and two assists.
Up next for Purchase is a return home as it hosts SUNY Old Westbury on January 17th at noon.
