PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team used a big second half to earn a convincing win Wednesday evening, defeating St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn by the score of 78-59.
With the result, the Panthers are now 9-9 overall and 8-5 in the Skyline Conference. For the Bears, they dropped to 8-11 and 4-10, respectively.
Despite quickly falling behind 13-0, by the time halftime rolled around, the Blue and Orange had gained the lead, 26-24.
Over the second half, the hosts remained in control the entire way as they scored 52 points over the two quarters.
While Brooklyn kept things within striking distance, Purchase eventually pushed its winning margin to 19 points at the final horn.
Overall, the Panthers shot 38.9 percent from the field, but converted an outstanding 32-for-42 at the free throw line. They also won the rebounding battle and turned the ball over fewer times than the guests.
Individually,
Tianna Patten (FY/Mount Vernon, NY) fueled the effort with 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Jamyra Mccray (FY/Brooklyn, NY) added 15 points, including 9-for-10 at the line, while
Charlee Neb (SR/Longmont, CO) tallied 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Up next for Purchase is a road matchup at the University of Mount Saint Vincent on February 1st at 4 p.m.
