PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's basketball team was defeated on the road Wednesday night, falling to Manhattanville University by the score of 70-59.
With the result, the Panthers fell to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the Skyline Conference. For the Valiants, they moved to 7-6 and 2-1, respectively.
In the first half, the visitors' biggest lead was one point on three separate occasions, before they settled for a 29-27 halftime deficit.
Following the break, the hosts started to pull away over the second 20-minute frame, leading by as many as 15 points.
In the end, Manhattanville prevailed by 11, sending Purchase home with a tough rivalry defeat.
Overall, the Blue and Orange shot 45.8 percent from the field. However, 3-pointers and free throws killed the chances of a win, as they totaled just 28.6 and 42.9 percent, respectively.
Individually,
Ricky Rollins (JR/Schenectady, NY) continued his 2026 breakout, as he again led the team with 20 points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Nate Maldonado (SR/Bronx, NY) added a career-high 17 points on 50 percent shooting, while
Desmond Ward (SR/Queens, NY) chipped in 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Up next for the squad is a road matchup at Mount Saint Vincent on January 10th at noon.
