NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated on the road Thursday night, falling in straight sets to John Jay College.
Scores for the contest were 25-15, 25-22 and 25-22.
With the result, the Panthers fell to 1-7 overall, while the Bloodhounds improved to 5-3.
On the night, the Blue and Orange finished with 26 kills on .141 hitting. Meanwhile, the hosts nearly doubled those marks at 39 and .278, respectively.
Over the three sets, John Jay grabbed the lead early, forcing Purchase to chase on the scoreboard. While the guests kept things close each time, they were unable to snag a set.
Individually,
Jael Martinez (JR/Bronx, NY) recorded eight kills and five digs to lead the way.
Danny Kanner (FY/Smithtown, NY) chipped in 23 assists, while
Joey Toscano (SO/Levittown, NY) tallied a team-high six digs.
Up next for the squad is more non-conference road action, as the team battles Baruch College on February 17th at 6 p.m.
