NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's volleyball team was defeated on the road Tuesday night, falling to Baruch College in straight sets.
Scores for the contest were 25-20, 25-14 and 25-16. With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-8 overall, while the Bearcats improved to 4-6.
The opening set played out closely for the guests, as they carried the advantage late into the frame, 17-15. It wasn't until the final stretch that saw the hosts gain control for good.
Following the first frame, the Blue and Orange were dealt decisive defeats over the last two sets as the pedigree of Baruch kicked in.
Overall, the Panthers finished with 25 kills on .155 hitting, while the Bearcats compiled totals of 35 and .357, respectively.
Individually,
Luca Valeriano (FR/Bronx, NY) led the effort with seven points, six kills on .400 hitting, a solo block and two digs.
Danny Kanner (FY/Smithtown, NY) added 16 assists and tied for the team lead in digs with four.
Up next for the squad is more non-conference road action as they travel to Ramapo College on February 19th at 7 p.m.
