BRONX, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team lost a close contest Thursday evening, falling to Yeshiva University by the score of 58-55.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 10-13 overall and 9-9 in the Skyline Conference. For the Macs, they jumped to 3-20 and 2-16, respectively.
On the night, the two squads were tied on six occasions and traded the lead back and forth nine times.
During the first half, the hosts led after both quarters, 18-16 and 31-26.
Following halftime, it appeared as if the Blue and Orange had locked in, as they produced 22 points in the period to lead heading into the fourth, 48-43.
Unfortunately, the Panthers went ice cold in the frame and did not score until 4:41 remained. By that point, it was an eight-point game in favor of the hosts.
While Purchase did cut the margin to just three points late, they failed to score again over the final 1:51 of action to let Yeshiva escape with the win.
Overall, the guests shot 30.6 percent from the field and just 19 percent on 3-pointers. For the hosts, they made 29.7 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
The key difference in the loss was rebounds (59-48), specifically offensive rebounds (22-16), as they lead to a huge boost in second-chance points for Yeshiva.
Individually,
Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (SO/White Plains, NY) led the way with nine points, seven rebounds and six blocks.
Tianna Patten (FY/Mount Vernon, NY) also added nine points and four rebounds, while
Halle Greaige (JR/Rye Brook, NY) tallied eight points and six rebounds.Â
Up next for the squad is Senior Day, as they host Sarah Lawrence College on February 14th at 2 p.m.
