PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Purchase College women's basketball team secured a tightly contested victory Wednesday night, besting St. Joseph's University-Long Island by the score of 54-46.
With the result, the Panthers are now 10-10 overall and 9-6 in the Skyline Conference. For the Golden Eagles, they dropped to 13-8 and 9-7, respectively.Â
On the day, the lead went back and forth 12 times, as the two conference foes were tied on another eight occasions.
After three quarters, neither team had separation as it was even 38-all heading into the fourth. That is when the Blue and Orange went to work, outscoring the hosts 16-8 to earn the win.
Overall, the guests shot the ball well in the performance, connecting on 41.7 percent of total shots and 40 percent on 3-pointers. For St. Joseph's, they were significantly below those margins at 27 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
They kept the contest close by winning the turnover and offensive rebounding battles.
Individually,
Charlee Neb (SR/Longmont, CO) paced the Panthers with a game-high 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Katie Argenzio (SO/Washingtonville, NY) added nine points, while
Tvisha Sivaramakrishnan (SO/White Plains, NY) collected four points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
Up next for the squad is a return home to host Mount Saint Mary College on February 7th at noon.
