PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was thwarted at home Saturday afternoon, falling to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts by the score of 11-5.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 0-2 overall. For the Trailblazers, they now stand at 2-2 on the year.
The Blue and Orange opened the game with the first goal, as
Chandler Redwood (JR/Dayton, OH) scored on a man-up chance.
Over the rest of the quarter, the guests outscored Purchase, 4-1, as
Davindra Deonarain (FY/Bronx, NY) also found the back of the net.
Early in the second period,
Ryan Haberski (FY/Saugerties, NY) scored on a solo effort to make it 4-3, but that was as close the hosts got the rest of the way.
MCLA then outscored the Panthers 7-2, including six-straight goals to seal the win in the end.
In total, the guests produced more shots and ground balls, while committing fewer turnovers. For Purchase, the squad was better on clear attempts, going 21-for-25.
Individually, Haberski led the squad with four points (two goals, two assists) and two ground balls.
Zach Scott (SO/West Babylon, NY) added a goal, an assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover, while
Cameron Savoca (JR/Nesconset, NY) tallied a team-high four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
In goal,
TJ Pasqualini (SO/West Harrison, NY) recorded 16 saves, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Up next for the squad is the first road game of the year, as the Panthers take on Anna Maria College on March 18th at 5 p.m.
