PAXTON, Mass. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team secured its first win of the year Wednesday night, besting Anna Maria College by the score of 7-6.
With the result, the Panthers are now 1-2 overall, while the AMCATS dropped to 1-7.
On the night, the hosts struck first before three-straight goals from the Blue and Orange created necessary separation.
After two goals from the other side evened things up at 3-all,
Soleil Gaines (SR/Garrison, NY) handed the lead back to the Panthers at halftime, 4-3.
The two sides then traded goals over the third, before early strikes from
Zach Scott (SO/West Babylon, NY) gave the guests all the goals they needed in the fourth quarter.
In the end, the Panthers were outpaced on shots, ground balls and face-offs and still escaped with the win after making the most of their chances.
Individually, Scott led the way with three goals, five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Chandler Redwood (JR/Dayton, OH) added two goals, an assist and two ground balls, while
Ryan Haberski (FY/Saugerties, NY) collected two assists, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
In goal,
TJ Pasqualini (SO/West Harrison, NY) totaled 16 saves and two ground balls in the win.
Up next for the squad is a road matchup with Centenary University on March 21st at noon.
