LANGHORNE, Penn. - The Purchase College men's lacrosse team was bested on the road Tuesday night, falling to Cairn University in a close battle, 13-11.
With the result, the Panthers dropped to 1-3 on the year, while the Highlanders gained their first victory of the season at 1-5.
The first half saw the two sides play to a 5-all scoreline, before Purchase slowly gained control over the third quarter at 9-8.
In the fourth, the guests held the lead at 11-10 with 3:34 remaining, before Cairn embarked on a remarkable run with three-straight goals over the remainder of the contest to steal the win.
Overall, Purchase outpaced Cairn in shots, 43-41, while the latter took charge on face-offs, 19-9.
Individually,
Ryan Haberski (FY/Saugerties, NY) led the effort with three goals, three assists and seven ground balls.
Zach Scott (SO/West Babylon, NY) added three goals, an assist and three ground balls, while
Chandler Redwood (JR/Dayton, OH) collected two goals, an assist and six ground balls.
In goal,
TJ Pasqualini (SO/West Harrison, NY) totaled 13 saves in the effort.
Up next for the squad is a home matchup with Alfred State College on March 29th at noon.
