PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team earned a well-deserved doubleheader split Saturday afternoon, falling to Baruch College in the first game, before taking game two in extra innings.
With the split, the Panthers are now 5-1 overall, while the Bearcats moved to 3-9.
Game One: Baruch 8, Purchase 0 (6 inn.)
The first game of the day saw the Blue and Orange fall for the first time this season, as they were held scoreless.
At the plate, the squad had just four hits, as
Arielle Reddick (SO/Fishkill, NY) led the way with a pair and two stolen bases.

Game Two: Purchase 9, Baruch 5 (11 inn.)
Part two of the day was much more thrilling and interesting between the two sides, even though it initially looked like the hosts would cruise.
Purchase raced out to a 5-1 advantage entering the seventh inning, before Baruch responded with four runs to tie everything up.Â
The game then remained scoreless until the 11th, when the Blue and Orange exploded for four more runs to seal the victory.
In the end, the hosts had nine runs on seven hits, as Reddick led the way with a trio of hits, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Natalie Gallo (FY/West Haven, CT), who provided the winning run, finished with a double, two RBIs, three runs and three walks, while
Christiana Bazzini (FY/Yonkers, NY) also had a double, two RBIs and three walks.
On the mound,
Liv Goff (JR/Syracuse, NY) tossed an incredible 11-inning complete-game win. She allowed just five runs (four earned) on 12 hits, while striking out 10 on the day.
Up next for the Panthers is a few days of rest, before they return home to face SUNY New Paltz on March 27th. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
