Softball Drops Pair to New Paltz

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team dropped a pair of home contests Friday afternoon, falling to SUNY New Paltz by the scores of 10-0 and 8-0.

With the results, the Panthers are now 5-3 overall, while the Hawks moved to 7-5.

Game One: New Paltz 10, Purchase 0 (5 inn.)

In the opening game, the guests knocked in 10 runs on 10 hits after exploding for five runs in the third inning.

For the Blue and Orange, they endured a perfect game from the other side as they did not get a runner on base.

On the mound, Sam Christopher (JR/North Babylon, NY) was tagged with the loss in the complete-game effort.

Game Two: New Paltz 8, Purchase 0 (5 inn.)

The second contest of the afternoon played out similarly to the first, as another five-run inning late sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Purchase, Christopher recorded the lone hit of contest with a single in the fourth, but that was the only base runner.

On the mound, Ava Knox (SO/Mahopac, NY) collected the loss after going 4.1 innings. She allowed six runs on eight hits with one strikeout .

Up next for the squad is a return to Skyline Conference play as they face Mount Saint Vincent on March 29th at noon.
