Purchase Splits With UMSV

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Purchase College softball team earned a doubleheader split Sunday afternoon, besting the University of Mount Saint Vincent in game one and dropping game two.

With the results, the Panthers are now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Skyline Conference. For the Dolphins, they moved to 6-9 and 1-1, respectively.

Game One: Purchase 3, UMSV 1

In the opening contest, the Blue and Orange rallied from an early hole to score all three runs during the fourth inning to grab the lead and eventual win.

At the plate, the hosts had eight hits overall, as Christiana Bazzini (FY/Yonkers, NY) and Liv Goff (JR/Syracuse, NY) each tallied two hits.

Bryce Kane (FY/Westborough, MA) pitched a complete-game win, as she went seven innings allowing just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Game Two: UMSV 4, Purchase 2

The final game of the day once again saw the guests race out to the lead, this time jumping ahead, 4-0. While the Panthers plated two runs late, they could not make up the difference.

Overall, the Purchase bats totaled 11 hits, including three apiece from Halle Greaige (JR/Rye Brook, NY) and Natalie Gallo (FY/West Haven, CT).

Goff was tagged with the loss in the complete-game effort, as she tossed six innings. She allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits with four K's.

Up next for the squad is a return to non-conference action, as it travels to Hunter College on March 30th at 3 p.m.
