WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Purchase College baseball team wrapped up the first half of its Florida trip Sunday, with the experience on the field being a positive one so far.
Through three games, the Panthers have gone 2-1 to move their overall record to 5-8 on the year.
Game One: Purchase 11, NYU 5 (7 inn.)
The first game of the trip saw the squad explode for 11 runs against a tough foe.Â
At the plate,
Tyler Della Mura (SR/Rye Brook, NY) and
Patrick Reyes (SR/Plainedge, NY) each finished with three hits, three RBIs and two runs apiece.
On the mound,
Brandon Reybok (SR/Lindenhurst, NY) went 6.2 innings in the win, as he allowed five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Game Two: NYU 19, Purchase 5 (7 inn.)
The middle game was decidedly one-sided in favor of NYU, as they pounded the Panthers for 10 runs and seven runs in back-to-back innings.
The offense also slowed for the Blue and Orange, as they finished with five runs on just four hits.
Brian Saldana (JR/Middletown, NY) recorded two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.
Starter
Christian Miesegaes (JR/Staten Island, NY) was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs over the first two innings.Â
Game Three: Purchase 8, Wisconsin Eau-Claire 7
In the final contest, the Panthers rebounded and overcame a six-run deficit along the way.
Entering the top of the seventh, Purchase was losing 6-0, before back-to-back four-run innings lifted the tally to 8-6 in its favor.
While Wisconson added a run in the eighth, the Blue and Orange held on for the victory.
Purchase finished with eight runs on seven hits, as
Tristen Abreu (SR/Queens, NY) and
Michael Pagano (FY/Franklin Square, NY) led the effort with two doubles each.
On the hill, Saldana went 5.2 innings in the start, before
Anthony Ciccone (JR/South Salem, NY) collected the win in relief.
Isaiah Rubin-Patel (JR/Brooklyn, NY) earned the save.
Up next for the squad are the final three games of the Florida trip, which will be played on March 24th and 25th.
